The Red Pheasant Restaurant Review: One of Cape Cod's most historic restaurants, the Red Pheasant is housed in a meticulously restored 200-year-old red barn. The restaurant was opened in 1977 by restaurateur Bill Atwood. Today, Bill Atwood, Jr. runs the kitchen, but little else has changed over the years. The Red Pheasant's menu is classic Cape, with an emphasis on local farm products. Dishes include comfort food like scallops with wild mushrooms and asparagus and duck breast with cranberry port wine sauce, as well as vegetarian options like farro risotto with seasonal vegetables. Be sure to check out the list of daily-changing specials. The wine list is a highlight. A book full of reds, whites and bubblies offers a voyage around the world. Desserts are traditional and simple, and include profiteroles and house-made tiramisu.
