ReNapoli Pizzeria & Chicago Italian Beef Restaurant Review

: Pizzas prepared in the Romana, Napoletana and classic New York City styles, as well as beef au jus "dipped," "submerged” or "drowned" in its juices, are all stars on ReNapoli’s menu. Before you head to the restaurant, though, choose a favorite bottle of vino to bring with you; it's BYOB. Romana pies (baked in a teglia double-gauged steel pan) have a crisp, medium-bodied crust. Napoletanas, with the dough prepared and fermented at room temperature in wood dough boxes, are more typical of American-style pizzas. The flavor lies in the crust, charred in a wood-burning oven, yielding a consistency that is crispy on the surface and soft within. Finally, an array of pies served New York City-style arrive heaped with toppings and cheeses. Wood-roasted meatballs braised in a marinara sauce paired with house-made rosemary focaccia make for a hearty starter. Beef lovers should try the prime top round beef, slow-roasted with Italian spices, fresh garlic, onion and red wine and served on rustic baguettes dipped in the beef au jus. Desserts include chocolate-covered zeppoli, cheesecake, tiramisu and cannoli.
