THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rendon Inn Restaurant Review

: HURRICANE KATRINA: this establishment is currently closed. For a New Orleans Travel Update as well as resources, information and help click here. At the deceptively named Rendon Inn (there are no guest rooms), a table by the pool means you may find yourself dodging a cue stick, since some of the tables ring the billiards table. This neighborhood hangout, now essentially a bar serving food throughout the day, is one of the city's few survivors of the chain restaurant boom of the 1970s. The rudimentary accouterments---wallboard, bare-wood floors, beer sign d├ęcor---have changed little since then. Ditto the menu. The most frequent orders are for seafood dinners (fried shrimp, oysters or catfish) with french fries, a perfunctory vegetable and a chopped lettuce and tomato salad. The roast beef po'boys, though usually on the dry side, and Friday's gumbo are also tradition. College students (definitely not the teetotaling type) fill the place from late afternoon to midnight.
