THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ristorante Benedetti's Restaurant Review: Open nearly 40 years, this straightforward Italian trattoria is solidly in the red-checkered-tablecloth tradition. The unpretentious menu has a solid line-up of 17 pastas including linguine with fresh, spicy sausage, manicotti, ravioli, lasagna and baked ziti. This is tomato sauce in tomato sauce country, but unfortunately it's not the best one you'll ever encounter. The tasty, crisp calamari comes with the ubiquitous red stuff, so get it with some lemons instead and forgo the tomato sauce. Abundance characterizes the approach to all sauces, so anything done francese swims in lemon-butter sauce, for instance home-style Italian favorites such as veal and snapper. Oven-baked calzone, stromboli and hot sub sandwiches complement daily pizza choices. Desserts include creamy cheesecake or quite good cannoli. The restaurant is super-popular with the Emory set, so don't be surprised to find it packed.
