Ristorante Buca Lapi Restaurant Review:

Buca Lapi claims to be the oldest restaurant in the city, located since 1880 in the cellars of the Palazzo Antinori, the 14th century building owned by the vintners of the same name. Back in that time, diners ordered tripe that was served in newspapers, which now line the walls and ceilings. Staff is very friendly and helpful translating the items on the menu. The place is well known for its Florentine steak and therefore attracts a lot of tourists. But other original Tuscan dishes are offered as well, such as ribollita (a thick bread and vegetable soup), pasta with wild boar sauce, and still, tripe. It’s fun to get a table near the open kitchen and watch the chefs cut the huge steaks and grill them on the charcoal fire. Wines include those from the vast Antinori estates. Desserts are the preparations of the cook, Luciano Ghinassi.
