In its home near the Uffizi Gallery, Ristorante Ora d'Aria offers contemporary Italian cuisine, almost as an art form. The comfortable and unassuming white-on-white interior affords a full view of the kitchen, and from the seating above, a look at how dishes are handmade and ingredients taken seriously. Chef Marco Stabile will come to your table and explain how a given selection was prepared. Choose the tasting menu and you can experience an all-over sampling of his expertise; it is very reasonably priced as well. But if you prefer à la carte, go for the risotto with saffron and black truffle or the homemade tagliolini with Guinea fowl as a first course. Follow it with crispy suckling pig with pear and cime di rape or breaded beef with the Tuscan cavolo nero (black cabbage) and truffle. Desserts are different every day. There is a good choice of wines, and staff will recommend pairings by the glass.
