 Housed in a historic Victorian house about five minutes off the Santa Fe Plaza, Ristra provides a lovely unhurried meal. The flavors are French, with hints of Southwestern flair. The menu includes mixed matches like chile relleno with rabbit and onion confit and fried red beets, as well as crispy fried salmon with cumin polenta, tomato-basil salsa and port sauce. Chef Xavier Grenet is a master of sweets: the warm almond butter cake with apples and mascarpone caramel is a grand finale to any meal. The décor is tastefully spare, with Navajo rugs hung on display like the fine art they are. In warm weather, choose the cozy patio.
