River City Diner Restaurant Review: The sister, though not a twin, of the downtown diner by the same name comes swathed in a neon-charged, retro façade with counter and booth seating inside. It’s a come-one, come-all sort of place that serves the kind of all-American fare we count on finding in diners: breakfasts served all day (pancakes in fun flavors like banana pecan and cinnamon apple), Mom’s Meatloaf, grilled beef liver and onions, and burgers with fries. But the kitchen adds lots more fun and funky dishes, like the Rochester Garbage Plate --- that’s two hot dogs, chili, cheese, baked beans and home fries --- and a chicken and waffle sandwich. There’s pizza, too. Try the house lemon pie or cheesecake, and some soda fountain favorites. Also located in Richmond and Northside. |
