With two locations in Atlanta, Rize Artisan Pizza + Salads makes its mark on a crowded genre. The modern interior focuses on an open kitchen, and guests seated at the bar in front of it get an up-close view of a pair of flat-screen TVs. Some dishes, such as the orecchiette with pork meatballs, labor under the weight of too many ingredients, and the pork meatballs can be dry if overcooked. A better bet is the bucatini with roasted shiitake mushrooms; it’s simple so the flavor of the mushrooms carries it. We prefer the classic pizzas, the margherita for instance, because the good crust should only be embellished by top-flight ingredients. For dessert, look for house-made gelati --- salted caramel anyone? Sangría (red and white) is a fine quaff with the fare, although there are serviceable wines and plenty of brews and cocktails as well.
