THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rocco's Little Italy Restaurant Restaurant Review: THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Unlike other aspects of Newport, Rocco's is anything but pretentious. "Good Italian food" is as boastful as the menu gets, and the décor favors checkered tablecloths and twinkling holiday lights over linens and moody illumination. True to its name, this corner-front restaurant specializes in New York style thin-crust pizza like you might find in the original Little Italy. We like the antipasto here, made with fresh mozzarella, provolone, four types of Italian cold cuts, and topped with marinated artichoke hearts and pepperoncini. For $1 a person, you can bring your own bottle of Chianti to complement standards like lasagna, manicotti, veal Parmigiana---even boneless chicken in a white wine mushroom sauce. Fancy? Not really, but for less than $15 an entrée even a "splurge" at Rocco's won't set you back much, and the kid-friendly staff and atmosphere makes this a good budget spot for families.
