Rocky & Carlo's Restaurant Review: Located a half-hour's drive from New Orleans, Rocky & Carlo's serves immense portions (a scoop of macaroni will easily feed three people) with a bare minimum of fuss or fancy from a row of steam trays, offered cafeteria-style. Prepare to wait in line for a table. Mainstays include fried shrimp and oyster plates, jambalaya, spaghetti with meatballs, braccioloni (stuffed and rolled veal breast), onion rings, potato salad and po' boys. Desserts are gooey, sweet and heavy --- just right. Try the bananas Foster spumoni cake. Some domestic and imported beers and wine are available. And the ambience? Well, sometimes no ambience is an atmosphere all its own. |
