Roma Cafe Restaurant Review: This longtime Italian restaurant (it opened in 1890) does just about everything right. We recommend the salads with zingy dressing and the homemade pastas with thick, rich tomato sauce. In rooms paneled with the same stuff your dad hung in the basement, seasoned waiters weave in and out of tables, racking up dozens of miles a day running around the old two-level space. The menu is huge --- seafood, steaks, veal --- and there's an Italian buffet on Monday nights. Expect elbow-to-elbow crowds on Detroit Red Wings hockey nights. There's a nice selection of wines, including those by the glass as well as notable Italian reds. |
