Roy's Waikoloa Bar & Grill Restaurant Review: Superchef Roy Yamaguchi has a well-deserved international reputation for creating original Asian-European dishes that are as dazzling to see as they are to eat. At his Waikoloa location, the menu changes almost daily, depending on which fresh ingredients local farmers and fish dealers bring in. Hip and contemporary, the restaurant features a large glass wall that overlooks a tranquil golf course pond, but it can get noisy inside. We like this place for its appetizer menu: dim sum, Big Island tomatoes, organic salads, kiawe-wood-grilled spicy baby-back ribs, or blackened ahi with wasabi butter, for example. You can make a meal out of them. But Roy's daily fish specials are definitely worth a try as well. Make sure to leave room for the hot, dark chocolate soufflé, the signature dessert. Roy's also has a nightly prix-fixe dinner.
