Sabor Latino Restaurant Review: With its “Buffet Latino” on Monday and Tuesday nights, Sabor Latino lets you sample a range of Peruvian fare, owner Manuel Barco’s native cuisine, with a nod to Mexico in the mix (think chicken quesadillas and beef enchiladas). Off-menu dishes such as papa rellena (stuffed potatoes) and frijol Canario (Canary beans) join daily dishes like tallarin saltado (sautéed steak slices with tomatoes, onion and fettuccine) and ají de gallina (shredded chicken in a creamy sauce). Ceviche fans may choose fish, mixed seafood or shrimp, and yucca fries might be a better bet than french fries. On the Mexican side, we like the pollo rostizado (tender roasted chicken with smoky tones) or the spicy burrito topped with chorizo and chile con carne. Flan, with or without Kahlúa, will satisfy a sweet tooth. Inca kola and chicha morada (a spicy, fruity Peruvian purple corn drink) join tea and soft drinks. There’s a full bar with dollar margaritas on Wednesdays as well as imported and domestic beers. |
