THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED SaigonESE Restaurant Review: Tapping into the local mania for Vietnamese cooking, this side-street eatery welcomes guests with a smiling statue of Buddha, a fish tank and a cool, casual décor. It's always a welcome sign when a country's nationals select a restaurant, and this place is no exception. Obviously, members of the local Vietnamese community know a good thing: an extensive Vietnamese menu that takes you through many aspects of this country's cooking. We always head to the goi cuon (soft summer rolls), but selecting its SaigonESE sample plate with six different selections provides a better overview. We can recommend the traditional South Vietnamese soup with cubed pineapple and shrimp, the grilled pork on noodles and the caramel fish. The menu goes on and on, so even the most finicky eater will find something of delight.
