Salon Corona Restaurant Review:

A down-and-dirty beer hall that has been a Mexico City staple for decades, the Salón Corona is one of the best places to enjoy a cold one on a warm afternoon or evening. Decorated with fluorescent lights, Formica tables, and TV sets blasting soccer games, the place is nothing if not basic, but the food that comes out of its kitchen is first-rate. The majority of the clientele come for its reasonably priced tacos and tortas (Mexican sandwiches, on a crusty roll dressed with onion, avocado, beans and chilies), which are stuffed with a range of choices, from the obvious (beef, sausage, ham, cheese) to the exotic (stewed tripe, codfish, octopus). They also make creditable seafood cocktails and fried fish.
