Salt Kitchen & Tasting Bar Restaurant Review: If you enjoy 12th Avenue Grill in Kaimuki, you will want to try owner/chef Kevin Hanney's sister restaurant, Salt Kitchen & Tasting Bar, just across the street. The first level is more conducive to the bar crowd, with only counter spaces for seating. Upstairs, the tables cater to a more sedate audience. Wherever you sit, the food is the same: locally sourced meats are cured in-house, and other local ingredients are used wherever possible. The charcuterie board gives a good sampling of the menu offerings; other favorites include the porchetta sandwich, local beet salad and foie gras torchon. The wine and beer list is not extensive, but there’s an interesting mix of international selections. Signature cocktails make use of distinctive spirits and herbal liquors to create handcrafted drinks. |
