THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Salvatore’s is a neighborhood restaurant that draws regulars citywide. Tucked behind a fast-food burger drive-thru, this small storefront location is known for both its classic interpretations and creative preparations. While the menu changes to keep up with seasonal ingredients, the chef often will prepare your request even if it has been removed from the menu. Dishes, plentiful enough to share, arrive in too-hot-to-touch iron skillets (there also are petite servings that'll satisfy most appetites). Chicken Veneto teams artichoke hearts, generous chicken chunks and pistachios in a lovely, light sauce. For a heartier meal, try the chicken and sausage tossed with pasta in a rich red sauce. Fish stew with its abundance of mussels, clams and scallops is memorable, especially when warm bread sticks are used to soak up the last of the broth.
