Sausalido Restaurant Review: The name is a play on Sausalito, a California town known for its charm. And owner Nicholas Mineo, part of a Pittsburgh dining dynasty, warmly welcomes and engages patrons. A changing show of local art-for-sale enlivens the tidy, understated space. Repeat customers forge a neighborhood bistro ambience. The kitchen takes its lead from California’s focus on fresh ingredients and seasonality, with a menu reaching beyond those of other restaurants in this area known as Little Italy. At lunch there are salads, sandwiches and entrées; at dinner, starters --- for example, smoked Gouda over spinach, or cider-glazed Brussels sprouts --- and a broadened choice of mains. The portions are huge, the presentations elaborate. Desserts include maple crème brûlée granola and roasted pear French bread pudding. Don't forget to BYOB.
