Screamin’ Mimi’s Restaurant Review: Screamin’ Mimi’s may take the crown as the North Bay’s best ice cream parlor. Two dozen flavors of ice cream and sorbet occupy the case daily, all made in petite five-gallon batches. Everything’s natural (except the Oreos in the hands-down top-seller Mimi’s Mud, an espresso kick-start that’s also packed with chocolate chips and strips of homemade fudge). Staples like “galaxy chip” and “deep dark secret” compete with sophisticated concoctions like cardamom ice cream, mojito sorbet, or fudge-striped “white tiger” with Grand Marnier and candied orange. When gardens bloom, so do flavors like lavender or local Crane melon. Lucky for you, it’s sold by weight, so you can dabble in small scoops for 60 cents an ounce. |
