SEA: The Thai Experience Restaurant Review

: SEA originated in New York City, where it has two locations, and has expanded its Thai fusion concept to Bally’s Las Vegas. The Bangkok-inspired modern design delivers a Zen-like décor and a tranquil ambience achieved through a reflecting pool, subdued lighting and natural wood tables and benches. A large Buddha statue adds to the authenticity that is joined by traditionally prepared Thai and Vietnamese dishes. The golden crab roll, though slightly oily, is an addictive mixture of crispy marinated crab meat and shrimp wrapped in a bean curd skin and served with plum sauce. Duck salad, which has more duck meat than lettuce, includes tomato, carrot, cucumber and onion dressed with a chili-lime juice. We also like the “crazy” pad thai, a mix of calamari, shrimp, scallops, julienned fresh mango, egg, peanut and tamarind sauce. The Vietnamese section of the menu comprises rice plates, noodle dishes and soups, such as the bun rieu --- a crab, shrimp, egg, fried tofu, tomato and shrimp paste soup. Finish with the fried banana, served with a choice of coconut-pineapple or vanilla ice cream and topped with peanuts and chocolate sauce.
