As charming as a French country parlor, yet oozing big-city sophistication, Sen5es is Georgetown’s bakery sensation. But it also has a postage stamp-sized dining room. Sen5es’ offers rather imaginative lunch and dinner menus---the latter may include roasted scallops on Belgian endive coleslaw or warm goat cheese toast salad and entrées such as wild mushroom duck confit risotto or roasted rack of lamb with saffron rice pilaf and pomegranate sauce. If your sweet tooth rules or you stroll by for a snack, you may not get one step past the glass pastry counter. These are no ordinary desserts. As proof, sample the lemon meringue tart. Its towering meringue cloud dusted with powdered sugar hides a rich lemon cream curd in a short cookie crust. Prepare to share or else request a doggie bag---for most, it’s too rich to eat at one sitting.
