| A hot commodity in DC, Shake Shack draws crowds who cluster at the door, then wait patiently in line inside. The attractions, of course, are the burgers, fries, and lusty, silken shakes. Additive-free Angus meat makes up the burgers, which come in several different variations, including a ShackBurger; this and the cheeseburger are almost identical. Crispy fries, with or without cheese, pair well with the burgers or the various hot dog offerings. But the real reason to stand in line is the frozen custard shakes in a parade of flavors, from chocolate and vanilla to caramel and peanut butter---they are frosty magic, pure and simple. Yes, you will wait in lines before and after ordering, but you won’t regret a minute of the time. |
