THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Shalom Hunan Restaurant Review:
Complete with a mashgiach to maintain the integrity of the kosher dietary laws, this no-frills clone of the owners' still-thriving Shalom Hunan in the posh Boston suburb of Brookline presents an extensive menu of authentic favorites. All the traditional Chinese dishes are served except, of course, pork and shellfish. Cantonese specialties include chicken, beef and veal lo mein, chow mein and fried rice. You'll like chef's specialties such as General Tso's chicken and sesame beef. Noodles are prepared in a variety of ways including with peanut butter sauce. Try the scallion pancakes and mu shu vegetable, chicken, beef or veal with pancakes. Lychee fruit is always a refreshing dessert.
