 Sheerwater Restaurant Review: Hotel del Coronado is bustling with energy and people 365 days of the year, so grab a seat on the Sheerwater terrace for views of the Windsor Lawn, the crashing surf and Point Loma, and let the parade pass by. The seasonal California cuisine ranges from sustainable seafood to kid-friendly favorites. Start with lobster bisque or a wood-fired pizzette with Boursin, asparagus and mushrooms (gluten-free crust is available). Oysters, jumbo prawns and lump crab meat await on ice, while scallops with truffle jus entice. Meat eaters should gravitate toward the Kurobuta pork chop with brandied peppercorn sauce, or consider the steaks, short ribs, chicken and osso buco. If a more casual bite is in order, there are fish ‘n’ chips, burgers and lobster mac ‘n’ cheese. The outdoor fireplaces and Queen Anne Victorian architecture of the hotel add to the ambience. |
