Shorty’s is a blast from the past in neighborhoods where newness is the norm. This mecca for carnivores is teeming with mouthwatering American specialties that this family has been doing right since 1951: baby-back ribs and chicken, tender and saucy, plus barbecue sandwiches that beat out any south of Kansas City. Shorty’s devotees squeeze in to this wooden building to drink beer or iced tea by the pitcherful and eat America’s original fast food off a flimsy paper plate. There’s also a take-out window.
