Silver Coin Indian Grill Restaurant Review: Silver Coin offers an array of dishes that traverse different regions of India. Lunchtime diners find a buffet that includes salad and fresh fruit, a variety of main courses, rice, tandoori (clay oven-cooked) chicken and dessert. Servers come by often with hot, freshly baked naan, good for dipping in the addictive mint sauce. At dinner, the extensive menu covers the gamut of southern and northern Indian fare, tandoori specialties and Indo-Chinese selections. Masala dosa, a thin crêpe stuffed with spiced potatoes, is good for a starter. Masala-grilled fish is marinated in spices and served on a bed of sautéed spinach with onion and garlic. Try the karahai gosht with chunks of lamb in a tomato sauce with onion, peppers and ginger. Bengan bharta, tandoor-roasted eggplant in a tomato gravy with fresh herbs, makes a hearty vegetarian entrée. Desserts include a variety of ice creams, but also rice pudding, and traditional cottage cheese dumplings and patties with exotically flavored syrups. There’s a small wine list with some appropriate choices for the food, or play it safe and order a beer.
