Slabtown Ribs & BBQ Restaurant Review

: Your first glance at this spot with a smoker out front provides a clue as to the essence of the place. Slabtown's chef/owners are serious about barbecue, so serious that they close on weekends to leave their schedule open for barbecue competitions (of which they've won a fair percentage and have ribbons to prove it). The menu is bare bones, or more accurately, bones with tender, smoky meat on them. You'll find all the regular suspects: pork shoulder, brisket, pork spareribs, sausage and chicken, all cooked with minimal saucing. You may add three sauces (Kansas City classic, Texas hot and Carolina-style mustard) at the table. Sides are perfunctory, covering the usual bases of greens, beans, mac ā€˜nā€™ cheese and homemade biscuits (the best option). The pecan pie is pretty good, too.
