THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Social Restaurant Review: French-born brothers Jalil (Jay) and Rheda (Ray) Chikhaoui are of North African (Tunisian) descent, so they bring a mélange of flavors to their restaurants. This one is devoted to wine and small plates, but one may start off with a small plate and continue with a main dish. Take an opening gambit with a roasted red beet napoleon, a layering of beets, goat cheese and crème fraîche adorned with a scattering of pistachios and continue with eggplant caviar. Share four or five of these plates for an interesting culinary tour or go on to a dish of lamb pappardelle, pasta topped with a lamb ragoût. Alongside the classic steak frites comes a Moroccan-style Cornish hen, with green olive and cured lemon sauce. Vegetarians may easily compose a lovely meal here, starting with the aforementioned eggplant caviar, then going with the veggie lasagna or an assortment of vegetable sides. And the wine list---while short---has intelligent choices, almost all of which are available by the glass.
