Smoky and noisy, this is one of the city's best spots for cook-it-yourself Korean barbecue over a tabletop charcoal grill.

Soot Bull Jeep Restaurant Review

: Of the hundreds of Korean barbecue restaurants in L.A., this is one of the best and most popular. It's smoky and noisy, but you'll enjoy barbecuing your own dinner over the traditional charcoal grill in the middle of your table. Although the emphasis is on beef, like thin-sliced rib-eye, tongue and the must-order marinated kalbi (Korean short ribs), there’s also squid, eel, shrimp and moist chicken to throw onto your grill. Wrap them in scraps of lettuce leaf with a bit of marinated scallions, bean paste and kimchi, and you’ll discover how addictive Korean barbecue can be. There is also a selection of soups like spicy tofu or soy bean stew to start; and do grab a piece of the perfumed Korean chewing gum offered when you leave. Soot Bull Jeep is a classic worth discovering.
