Spago Restaurant Review: Spago is warm, lively and open, with a spectacular ocean view that is difficult to improve upon. Local produce, fish and meats are employed in the creative menu of contemporary California cuisine with an emphasis on Pacific Rim flavors. The menu changes depending on the freshest seasonal items, but expect seafood dishes with flair. The miso-sesame ahi tuna "poke" cones are a must to start. Main dishes range from grilled mahimahi with pineapple-ginger BBQ, sweet Maui onions, shiitake mushrooms and grilled pineapple to Chinois lamb chops grilled with Hunan eggplant and chili-mint vinaigrette. End the meal with baked Maui mango upside-down cake with passion fruit sorbet. Spago features an international wine program as well as island-inspired cocktails.
