| Just a short walk from chef Scott Boswell’s Stella! is Stanley, Boswell's casual corner eatery fronting a high-traffic corner on Jackson Square. An upscale diner, Stanley invites patrons to sit at the counter and watch the bustling activity outside and the open kitchen inside. The menu reflects the atmosphere: burgers, creative egg dishes (try the eggs Benedict po’ boy), seafood po’ boys, hearty soups, a first-rate gumbo, and ice cream dishes that could make you weak in the knees. Whatever you choose, begin your repast with a Bloody Mary (or Boswell's "Mega-Mary") and go from there. But be sure to wrap it up with the Stella Uptown dessert---ready? Rum raisin ice cream over carrot cake with sweet cream cheese sauce, whipped cream, toasted walnuts and cherries. Boswell knows how to make even a casual place memorable right to the end. |
