| With a panoramic view of the Hennepin-Lake area (and if you look hard enough, a glimpse of Lake Calhoun), Stella’s breezy rooftop was the first to conquer the neighborhood. While nearby restaurants have followed suit on the trend, Stella’s still reigns supreme as the default "drinks and dinner with a view" combination for Uptown party people. With a menu that spans the greatest hits of seafood (and with steaks and pastas for non-fish lovers), there’s a something for everyone culinary theme here. Groundbreaking cuisine? No. But you can’t say that the surf ‘n’ turf sliders and lobster roll aren’t whimsical crowd-pleasers. We appreciate the deft, playful hand with desserts; as a consequence, it’s hard to choose between the passion fruit crème brûlée and the State Fair mini donuts with locally made ice cream. What ultimately shines, though, are the simple preparations of fresh seafood: the whole Maine lobster, the Alaskan red king crab and the tempting raw bar. Just don’t tell that to the folks kicking back on the patio, who remain convinced that fruity mojitos and the sunsets are the real attraction. |
