Stir Market, Los Angeles, CA

Stir Market Restaurant Review

: Drawing inspiration from European food halls, Stir Market wears many hats: bakery, espresso bar, gourmet marketplace, casual eatery and wine bar. Patrons can pick up homey fare for takeaway, or dine in at the central counter, tables or patio. Shelves and displays are laden with wine, crackers, chips, spreads, sauces, pasta and other goodies for sale --- even flowers. The menu from chef-partner Jet Tila and chef Breck Lawrence kicks off in the mornings with Moroccan baked eggs and Meyer lemon pancakes, then continues with salads, flatbreads, sandwiches, rice bowls and rôtisserie plates of chicken or porchetta. (Just the rôtisserie chicken will make you want to come back.) In the evening, you’ll find house-made pastas such as braised oxtail pappardelle. Sweets are on the simple side, with choices like chocolate mousse, root beer float and sundaes. Happy hour is from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. and features food specials, $5 wine selections and $3 draft craft beers. Trivia (Wednesdays at 7 p.m.) and Paint Nights (first and third Tuesdays) also add a dose of fun. In the summer, a variety of picnic baskets for two are available to order (minimum two hours notice).
