Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: We have to give Greg Koch credit. Not only did he help put San Diego on the map as a craft beer capital with his hop-forward beers, but he's also a champion of sustainable and organic food, as seen in his onsite bistro. The dining room sits next to the brewing facilities, with views of the giant steel vessels. This modern-style tap room is lively and airy with sunlight, and the sprawling gardens call for a leisurely beer-infused lunch.

Food & Drinks: The menu feels random, but reflects Koch's favorite foods from around the world. Dishes include wok-fried quail quarters with sriracha-honey glaze and fried garlic mashed potato dumplings. Salads are loaded with fresh produce from the nearby Stone Farms, but the house version lacked cohesion, with its overabundance of flavors like bacon lardon, citrus, Purple Haze goat cheese and candied pistachios. For meat eaters, the braised pork ribs or the grilled pork chop in a Stone Porter vanilla glaze are both good bets. Thoughtful beer pairing suggestions are available for each plate. Sunday boasts an omelet station. Take a brewery tour before or after lunch as a window into San Diego's craft beer culture.
