Stonehouse Grill Restaurant Review:

Tucked deep into Westlake, Stonehouse Grill serves some of the ’burb’s best fast-casual fare. The space is relaxed with plenty of bar seating and TVs and service is attentive and fast. As the sister restaurant to the nearby AJs Urban Grill, subs, salads and wings are the stars here, too. (Many of the subs actually mirror the menu at AJs.) We like the Lonestar sub as well as the steak and sausage sub. For appetizers, the hummus is a crowd favorite, and it comes with a giant pile of warmed garlic pita. Wings are also a good first course; they’re meaty and available in mild, medium, hot, teriyaki, BBQ, garlic-Parmesan, honey barbecue, Cajun, hot BBQ, seven pepper and suicide. (We value our taste buds and therefore prefer less scorching varieties like mild and honey barbecue.) The New York steak salad sounds rudimentary, but the steak elevates this seemingly simple dish to new heights. It’s seasoned and seared and delectably tender. Entrées are hit or miss, depending on the night. Ditto for specials. Stick with the aforementioned stars and you’ll walk out satisfied. Stonehouse has a fairly extensive tap system with a number of seasonal choices available. Wines are serviceable. Desserts are forgettable.
