Clubby and masculine, the setting serves as the appropriate backdrop for huge juicy steaks, with or without a cigar.

Sullivan’s caters to a business-oriented clientele by serving classic martinis and shrimp cocktails just as they were in the 1940s. Steaks, ranging from an eight-ounce filet mignon to a whopping 24-ounce porterhouse, are tender and juicy, and consistently cooked within a shade of the ordered temperature. For a change of pace, try the seafood, such as scallops with spicy Thai sauce and, of course, broiled Maine lobster. Desserts are made in house, so try the crème brûlée or New York-style cheesecake. Well-trained waitstaff enhances the experience, and the wine list, heavy on Californian wines, is among the most extensive in town, with some 400 labels including 20 by the glass. Top it all off in the bar with a single malt scotch and a cigar.
