THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sun Ray Grill Restaurant Review:
This color-splashed, high-energy spot is part of a small local chain that deals in everything from satays to quesadillas. The results end up somewhere between the super and the superficial. Nonetheless, Sun Ray Grill's uneven globe-trotting cuisine still manages a few bright spots. Barbecued baby-back ribs are a sure bet, regular or Thai-style. Another winner is an Avery Island (La.) fire-roasted half duckling with a pepper jelly glaze. The international menu also tips its hat to local cuisine, with a respectable shrimp and grits dish and a standout fried crab cake dinner. Sushi lovers will appreciate the “Aloha Sushi” menu, featuring an array of rolls. Hot saké anyone? Yes, we thought so. Every meal should include a tempura banana split. Sun Ray Grill would benefit from a well-constructed international wine list to complement its menu.
