THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sweetwater's Tropic Zone Restaurant Review: This tropical oasis specializes in Caribbean, Southeast Asia and Polynesian cuisines. The atmosphere is fairly casual---think lilting island rhythms, steel drums and ukuleles mixed with exotic animal patterns. Simultaneously, the space is modern in its use of bright colors, brushed aluminum, bamboo flooring, and a two-story seating plan. Carnivores will find many menu options such as spicy Trinidadian goat curry and authentic Jamaican jerk chicken. Vegetarians will be pleased with earthy grilled vegetables accompanied by West African ground nut sauce sizzling with fiery Scotch Bonnet peppers. There’s also seafood, and it's well worth the price tag. Choices may include pineapple curry seafood stew, or pescado con coco, which is a whole yellowtail snapper deep-fried and drenched in a rich, seductive sauce blending tomatoes, sweet onions, garlic, cilantro, coconut and Marsala. Sweetwater’s also features a raw bar with fresh ceviche, Bahamian conch salad, oysters, and Hawaiian lomi lomi. Beer and wine are poured aplenty, but mind the Montserrat Endorphin Rush concocted with Champagne, sugar and a habanero pepper. Shoot it wrong and you’ll swear your mouth landed in Hades.
