Tacolicious, San Francisco, CA

Tacolicious Restaurant Review

: High ceilings, clean lines and sparse decorative elements give Tacolicious a sense of spaciousness that belies its actual size. A handful of tables occupies a corner in the back of the restaurant and another group faces large front windows. The main dining area lies along the lengthy counter that hems in the kitchen and bar. Local artist Paul Madonna’s pop-art watercolors hang neatly on the walls. The overall effect is an eatery that feels upscale without being upscale. For doubters, a plaque announces: “Fingers Not Forks." Forks are irrelevant, anyway, to petite tacos stuffed with brisket-like braised short ribs --- although they are handy for starters such as cumin-sauced plantains and smoked albacore tuna tostadas sprinkled with crispy leeks. Tequila cocktails cool everything down, and on a frequently updated menu, desserts include churros, pumpkin flan and a “chocolicious taco.” Two other San Francisco locations, and one in Palo Alto.
