Tasty n Sons Restaurant is one of our 2012
Hot 10 Portland Restaurants|
Tucked into a sleek warehouse along the trendy restaurant and shopping row on North Williams Street is this unique, modern eatery. Where else could you order a venison biscuit and gravy, bouillabaisse, and polenta and New York sausage with peppers and Parmesan at the same meal? You’ll struggle to choose between chicken fried duck and cast iron cassoulet even before you spot the pair of burgers. We’re particularly partial to the Toro burger with bacon, manchego and Romesco cheeses. (Toro refers to Toro Bravo, the Spanish tapas restaurant nearby that’s owned and operated by the same group.) End the meal with the baked-to-order chocolate chip cookies served with vanilla ice cream, although Ingrid’s Rum Cake is a more adult and boozy choice. The chocolate potato donut works after dinner or for the daily brunch. Daytime-only dishes range from house-made granola with fresh local berries to a Burmese red pork stew with rice and eggs, and a boudin blanc omelet with fava bean tapenade and truffle cheese. Try a local beer, wine, or one of the ever-changing special cocktails.
