 Tavolata Restaurant Review: Industrial meets elegance at one of Belltown’s hippest restaurants. Tavolata features a massive 30-foot communal table, but if you aren’t a fan of that concept, hold out for a romantic booth or one of the small tables tucked around the room’s edges. The daily changing menu features rustic Italian cuisine --- a handful of first courses, a dozen pastas and three entrées. Among handmade pastas, try the signature gnocchi with mozzarella, tomato and Reggiano. Rigatoni is tossed with spicy Italian sausage, marjoram and tomato. Mains highlight grilled steak with creamy polenta, and seared scallops with eggplant caponata. For a sweet ending, we recommend the lemon-scented donut holes, crispy and dusted with sugar. To complement any dish, there's a reasonably priced, all-Italian wine list. |
