Thai Elephant Restaurant Restaurant Review: Mussamun curry, pad woon sen, tom yum soup: the classics are all here, with the layers of flavor you expect from this cuisine. In addition, we like the broad spicy noodles with Thai basil, pineapple red curry, and chili basil chicken (order the latter two on the spicy side---the touch of sweetness provides balance to the heat). This is also a good place to skip the meat and go for either the tofu or all-veggie options; pan-fried tofu chunks are generously portioned, and the vegetables are varied and appropriate for the dish---cabbage, carrots and often asparagus. For dessert, the sweet sticky rice with mango is popular, but we prefer a few palate cleansing bites of green tea or coconut ice cream. Thai beers and local wines are available, as well as a couple draft beers. |
