THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Thai Kingdom Restaurant Review: Once a popular destination with outstanding food, Thai Kingdom seems now to rest only on its reputation---and its positively impressive Thai décor. Swathed in reds and golds, the interior has become a shrine to both Buddhism and the Thai royal family:; pictures of Buddhist monks and members of the Thai royal family (primarily the king) abound, and the restaurant is a visual reminder of Thailands luxurious accoutrements, even if the food has become a dismal shadow of a truly glorious cuisine. We pushed aside the duck salad that was gristly and flavorless, left half-eaten the lemongrass soup, and found the chicken spiced on a hot pan nothing more than a Chinese-like stir-fry. So disappointing was the meal that we voted against dessert and headed home. |
