| If you have a soft spot for tiki-themed décor, potent tropical cocktails and fresh seafood served with an ocean view, you will like Tiki's. Located on the second floor of the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach hotel, the restaurant is popular with island visitors and locals who, especially on weekends, come in droves to enjoy the reasonable prices, live local entertainment, and hopping bar scene. The menu is in the process of an upgrade under the guidance of Ronnie Nasuti, the longtime chef at Roy's flagship location. Nasuti's influence is most seen in the entrée selection, with more refinement in the seafood and Mediterranean flavors married with Tiki's signature island influences. The four mushroom risotto with portobello, porcini, shiitake and button varieties with asparagus, spinach and basil finished with white truffle oil is a standout, as are the pan-seared scallops with black rice, baby bok choy and a sweet potato yuzu beurre rouge. The coconut shrimp, Cajun-seared ahi and macadamia nut-crusted mahi remain, but we suggest looking to the specialties for dishes from Nasuti. Wines, beers and a selection of in-the-spirit drinks, like the fruit flavored margaritas and Hawaiian iced tea, are available. |
