Tila's Restaurant Review: Tila’s is a River Oaks tradition, pumping out authentic Mexican food since the 1980s. The dog-friendly patio is a popular watering hole come cocktail hour thanks to the fresh margaritas and more than 60 tequilas that dot the menu. But the real treat is chef Tila Hidalgo's creative fare served in family-friendly style. Favorites include the tequila-marinated salmon borracho and chiles en nogada; Brie and pear quesadillas are available, too. Weekend brunch brings diverse offerings: silver “peso” pancakes and toad-in-a-hole dishes exist side-by-side with more traditional Mexican breakfast items like breakfast tacos, scrambled eggs and plates that pay homage to chiles. The warm Mexican décor creates an ambience that complements the cuisine. The parking lot is busy, so prepare to valet.
