Tommy's Restaurant Review: Hipsters, locals, kids and academics fuel up at this Coventry Village institution where the large menu features lots of healthful sandwiches, shakes (many made with fresh fruit) and pita pies. The décor includes natural wood, plant life and local art, and the ever-youthful-looking Tommy, the restaurant's owner and namesake, is almost always in the thick of things. The restaurant offers wraps and spinach pies, vegetarian burgers, hand-cut fries, freshly made soups and even vegan desserts. There is also a Lebanese influence here---lots of hummus and pita. Don’t miss the milkshakes in flavors like moosetracks, cookie dough, root beer and coffee. And, while the wait can be tedious, it pays off when you finally take a bite of that barbecue seitan sandwich or any other dish on offer. |
