THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Tony Mandola's Gulf Coast Kitchen Restaurant Review: Just like the name says, Tony Mandola’s Gulf Coast Kitchen is all about fresh seafood from the gulf. Oysters are always a good bet here, whether fried, baked or on the half shell with a handful of Saltines and washed down with a Bloody Mary. Hearty soups include Mama's gumbo and red beans and rice with smoked sausage, although our favorite is the cioppino, which makes for a memorable meal. The shrimp cocktail Vincente puts a spicy Mexican spin on a standard appetizer and other dishes, like the blackened snapper in lime butter or the fried green tomatoes topped with boiled gulf shrimp, make good use of regional flavors. Grilled fish dishes are light and flavorful, as are the soft shell crabs, just barely fried in corn meal. |
