THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Top O' the Cove Restaurant Review:
TOP O’ THE COVE IS CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS. Located on La Jolla's restaurant row, Top of the Cove might not toot its horn very loudly, but to those in the know, it boasts one of the best menus (and wine lists) in the city. We love this spot for special occasions, especially romantic dates, anniversaries and birthdays---but serious foodies will enjoy the menu more regularly, provided they have fat wallets. Yes, the prices are some of the highest in San Diego, but this big ticket meal pays off. Some of our favorites are the seared diver scallop appetizer (with cream cheese mashed potatoes and roasted bananas in Thai green curry sauce), the white asparagus wrapped in prosciutto (with truffle vinaigrette) and the Shelton rabbit trio of loin, leg and confit (with parsnip purée, braised red cabbage and celery root-apple salad). And where else can you try free-range elk (in a Zinfandel reduction sauce with fava bean-tomato tart)?
