Chef Matt Jennings has taken the dining experience in Boston's Leather District and elevated it to a new level with Townsman, which has massive windows and a hip atmosphere. Get started with a dry martini with "all the fixins" or a specialty cocktail like the El Diablo made with house ginger beer. We like the super-fresh fluke crudo with sweet peppers, sherry and flavorful oregano oil. Tasty finds range from pickles and dips to deviled eggs with fried capers and native corn chowder with squid. Tender roasted lamb ribs, made with a sweet brown sugar and fennel cure atop black barley, fall off the bone. Juicy hanger steak is made better when topped with a stone fruit chimichurri. Slow-cooked hen leg comes with a side of cheddar grits and collard greens. Save room for dessert, a finale that includes chocolate almond terrine and blueberry cobbler.
